This is why I do it. This is why I plan vacations around shooting things like this. A bucket list item that exceeded expectations beyond belief. You have to see it in person to get the full magnitude of how jaw-droppingly gorgeous and epic it is to see Delicate Arch in person, when you finally get to the top of the trail and pop out from behind a wall. I had been up at Delicate Arch since around noon, taking a ton of time-lapse videos, along with a whole lot of stills. I wasn’t planning on staying the night to get this shot, for I was flying solo on this trip and probably wasn’t a smart thing to do all by myself, hiking downhill on an unfamiliar semi-unmarked trail with indistinguishable cairns setup. But that all changed when I struck up a conversation with another fellow photographer @adams39, who asked me if I was staying for the Milky Way. He plus a few others were, so the rest is history and I was able to capture this shot. Now friends with @adams39, in the morning, we hit up Mesa Arch for a sunrise shot in the Canyonlands.
