While the pier isn't a place I normally visit (too touristy, crowded), I love taking photos of it from afar. Especially at night and the glow of the lights from it and the amusement park ferris wheel, light up and reflect in the sand. The amber red glow on the horizon, while the sunset was at its last gasp, only added a beautiful mood to the setting.
Geneva is such a magical place. Built around the western end of Lake Leman, this big financial city has it all. Michelin star restaurants, every financial firm you could think of in banking, along with every high-end store to buy your wears. This night, the lake was calm and the colored glow of the lights reflecting of it were stunning.
The Akihabara district in Tokyo is an overwhelming display of lights. The former electric power district for the whole city of Tokyo, it has now transformed into a tech/games/shopping area. Blocks and blocks of bright shining lights, taking up every possibly square foot of space on the outside of the building. I sat at this intersection for over an hour, waiting for that moment to capture someone alone in all this chaos. Patience paid off and not only did I get a solo walker crossing, I got someone obscuring their face.
