What is also amazing about these macaque monkeys, is how similar they are to us. Their social behavior, their interactions with other monkeys, their interactions with you as you are feeding them, their facial expressions, the emotions in their eyes, is so human-like. If you have ever wanted to experience monkeys up close, not in a sterile like zoo setting, where you see them 50 feet away, don’t miss coming here. A pack of bighorn sheep wandered into the Valley of Fire Visitor Center parking lot, as if they owned the place. There were tourists parking their cars and going into the visitor center, and none of that fazed them. The center had water drip buckets setup that they were all going towards, on this low 100 temp day. Usually skittish animals, these beautiful creatures were calm and let me approach fairly close to take some shots.
