Crowfoot Glacier, Icefields Parkway, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Crowfoot Glacier, one of many amazing glaciers you will see on a trip to Banff and Jasper National Park, is nestled on the northeast portion of Crowfoot Mountain. There is a pull off, which wets your appetite just a bit with this view, for the next lookout up the road encompasses this plus Bow Lake and the whole Crowfoot Mountain range. It has been retreating since the Little Ice Age and the name it was given by explorers no longer resembles that. It supplies water to the start of the Bow River, then lake, which you cannot see here just below the tree line. The thing that still blows me away about Banff and Jasper is the variation of everything from glaciers, mountains, trees, lakes, rivers, plus wildlife, etc. all coalesced together, giving us views like this to enjoy. Mother nature is truly magnificent!
