I kid you not, this is the actual color of the water at Moraine Lake, which is a glacially fed lake. This is key in why it is so blue. Sediment from the glacial runoff, specifically due to the refraction of light off the silt/rock flour. It is a very light material and stays floating in the water for a long time, hence the magnificent color. Banff is otherworldly, and not only Moraine is like this, but all the lakes in the park and neighboring Jasper National Park.
